CAA Movie Night- "Voyage of the Damned"

Description: David and Sandy Kochman will be hosting a movie night at the synagogue. The feature film will be “Voyage of the Damned”, a film inspired by true events of the 1939 voyage of the MS St. Louis. It is the emotional tale of 937 German Jewish refugees seeking haven from the atrocities of their homeland. They soon discover that their escape has been set up as an exercise in Nazi propaganda. Denied their intended sanctuary, will they find a new home, or be forced to return to the horrors awaiting them in Germany?
Featuring and all-star cast, including Faye Dunaway, Max Von Sydow, Orson Welles and Malcolm McDowell, “Voyage of the Damned” is a powerful and unforgettable film.

This film was nominated for three Academy Awards – Best Supporting Actress, Best Score, and Best Adapted Screenplay (Rated PG). The total running time is 160 minutes and we will have a brief intermission.
David has a personal connection with the story of the MS St. Louis, as his grandparents, Fritz and Alice Kochmann, were on board the actual ship. This photo was taken on the ship by David’s Aunt Hilda!

Light snacks will be provided. Hope to see you there!
