CAA Movie Night- The Big Lebowski

Description: The Coen brothers’ 1998 film “The Big Lebowski” has, in the twenty years since its release, become a cult classic. A comic crime film featuring such disparate elements as bowling, kidnapping, mistaken identity, and fantasy sequences, it showcases Jeff Bridges in the lead role of “the Dude” – an endearing ne’er-do-well. The Dude’s friend Walter, brilliantly played by John Goodman, provides the Jewish content. Amid a complicated plot and stellar performances by stars including Julianne Moore, Steve Buscemi, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and John Turturro, it’s the Dude/Walter friendship that really stands out and garners the most laughs. Walter’s rant about why he doesn’t bowl on Shabbat is particularly memorable.
Join us on Saturday, January 26, at 7:00. We’ll have popcorn and other snacks, brief framing comments, and then the screening. After the film we’ll have a discussion. No charge for CAA members. We ask that non-members donate $5 a person to cover refreshments and movie rental/purchase.
