1:00pm [1:00pm] Mah Jongg
Description:
If you think Mah-Jongg is just for little old ladies, think again. A new generation of enthusiasts is spearheading the revival of this enjoyable tile game. Playing Mah Jongg is fun, social, and a good brain work-out. CAA member and Mah Jongg instructor extraordinaire, Nancy Stone has a Mah Jongg group that meets at CAA on Thursdays at 1:00pm. There's an open invitation to join the group or just come to see what it's all about! Beginners are welcome!

Description:
“Passover Parodies: Songs that Weren’t Sung at Your Bubbe’s Seder.” Many seders are enlivened with amusing songs that use familiar melodies and comedic lyrics to turn a sometimes too predictable ritual meal into a rollicking good time. Broadway show tunes, American folk music and popular songs all can be adapted with lyrics that make the Festival of Freedom more festive and laugh-out-loud funny. We’ll begin by looking at some clips of some parody performances over a pizza-and-salad dinner (It’s not Pesach yet!). Then Rabbi Lowenthal and Lainee Ginsberg will sing some of the songs and teach them to those assembled. Dale Rosenberg will provide instruction on how to incorporate the parody songs into your seder, achieving the desired mix of seriousness and humor. All who attend will leave with copies of several parody songs to introduce to your own seder. RSVP by March 26 so we know how much food to provide and how many copies to make.
